I wanted a plain, round, roller that was solid and firm. This is quite substantial (heft) with a thin cushioned rap (vinyl?) around the hard cylinder. I hope the cushioned rap doesn't split/tear. The only complaint (and I knew this going in) is that it's barely a foot wide so it won't span the width of your full back and you'll need good balance as you roll back/forth on your quads or I-T band. A decent prime day price was the enticement.
