I chose the fine surface intentionally because I wanted a good shine.Background on me and painting: I believe in good (usually expensive) paint - this was $25 a quart - because you get better results.These brushes are not built to handle thick paint. After about 10 minutes, they start to get spongy. Thick paint creates some surface tension when applied in a way that runny water paint never will, and unfortunately, these brushes are not meant to withstand such force. Once they become spongy, bits of the brush come loose. They get stuck in the paint.I had to resand and start over. The first time it happened, I thought it was my fault with not preparing the surface adequately. Of course, I had sanded the surface before, washed it down, and then applied Lysol bleach, and then washed it down again....that's good prep, right? Anyway, it happened again after another round of sanding and washing. It's incredibly frustrating to work with bad materials. At this point, I've purchased three quarts for a job that probably needed 1.5 quarts.Normally, I would get the standard mini-roller brushes at the big box, but lately, things have been different with regards to retail big-box shopping. I say that because I want to underscore that the bar isn't too high here. I'm saying the big-box mini rollers are far better. Not a high bar - beat the big box offering - but this product is hopelessly not as good.Don't get me wrong, the rollers work great. They leave a lint-free, smooth finish, as others have stated. But the off gassing of the product was extremely strong. Had to leave them in the garage, out of the plastic bag for several days before bringing them in the house for use.Don't know if this was a one-of (I didn't see any other reviews mentioning this), but I don't think I'd buy again just in case.Bought to impregnate resin into fiberglass mat. Very durable and still effective after getting cover in mat and resin. Way better than the cardboard core rollers.Used one and it worked fineas describedi hate washing paint stuff but these are easy and good for small areas
